Position Overview

Provide department level accounting support to ensure department goals and objectives are achieved in alignment with CryoLife’s mission and core values. Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of a combination of general accounting systems. Comply with department and company-wide accounting procedures and with generally accepted accounting procedures during the process of preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing descriptive or supporting schedules, monitoring budget to actual results and working on the more challenging special projects as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare month-end, quarter-end and year-end journal entries for CryoLife, Inc., and its subsidiaries and begin to direct the work of lower level peers.

 

  • Perform a review of budget to actual differences on a monthly basis to determine if reclasses, accruals, prepayments or capitalizations of costs are necessary for assigned cost centers, and document differences in the monthly variance spreadsheet.

 

  • Prepare the more challenging reconciliations and entries, such as intercompany, equity and bank reconciliations, on a monthly basis.

 

  • Prepare the more challenging supporting or descriptive schedules as needed on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis.

 

  • Perform review procedures on the quarterly SEC filings and review XBRL tagging.

 

  • Assist the Cost Accountants in preparation and running of cost allocations, account reconciliations of inventory accounts and investigation into variances and other tasks and projects as needed.

 

  • Maintain budget files for assigned cost centers including uploading budgets, downloading, history and reviewing annual budgets and proposing questions.

 

  • Assist in the processing of capital asset requests, transfers and disposals as needed.

 

  • Assist the Financial Analysts, Assistant Controller, Controller, Chief Accounting Officer and Chief Financial Officer by performing various tasks and analyses necessary to complete the regular closing process.

 

  • Assist in the gathering of information and preparation of schedules for the year-end audit and other audits or examinations as necessary.

 

  • Work on special or periodic projects including US census surveys, providing supporting information for various tax filings, performing SAP test scripts for upgrades, annual review of Sarbanes Oxley documentation, inventory counts and other projects as identified.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelors of Business Administration – Accounting degree and knowledge of technical accounting issues (Finance majors will only be accepted if they have obtained or are pursuing a MAcc or CPA license)

 

  • Candidates with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are preferred

 

  • One year public accounting experience or two or more years industry experience required

 

  • MBA, MAcc or CPA candidates, a plus

 

  • Additional experience with accounting system software is a plus

 

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, vlookups, graphs & sumif formulas) and experience with Word required

 

  • Ability to work well as part of a team and ability to respond to the changing needs of the organization due to rapid growth and a rapidly changing industry

 

  • Detail oriented with good critical thinking and problem solving skills

 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a fast paced, challenging environment

 

  • Candidate should also be able to work overtime for quarterly closings or as needed
