    Position Overview

    The Facilities Technician is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that the building and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner.

    Responsibilities

    • Cleans, polishes, and disinfects all bathroom and break room fixtures and replenishes needed supplies.
    • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and polishes floors, steps, and sidewalks. Cleans walls, baseboards, and windows.
    • Collects trash from facility and transports to dumpsters; maintains cleanliness of dumpster area.
    • Dusts and/or polishes furniture, blinds, and equipment.
    • Maintains an adequate supply of cleaning materials and supplies.
    • Responds to requests for set up and tear down of special events such as meetings, conferences, or plant tours.
    • Assist with any project as needed, or perform other duties as may be requested from time to time.
    • Relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: (a) can get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; (b) (c) respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor
    • Manage time effectively

    Qualifications

    • One year of custodial experience: OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable skills and abilities have been achieved
    • Knowledge of standard cleaning instructions, chemicals, products and equipment.
    • Knowledge of workplace hazardous materials and processes.
    • Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of cleaning products.
    • Ability to organize work to ensure that manufacturing is minimally effected and that all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
    • Required to read, write and speak English with good command of the language, follow verbal and written instructions and use simple math
    • Basic computer skills including at minimum, be proficient in use of MS Office, internet, and electronic mail
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

    This is a physically demanding position. While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to

    • Talk, hear, sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facilities
    • Use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls
    • Stand  and walk for extended periods of time
    • Lift, bend forward with and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds, and occasionally lift, bend forward with and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds,
    • Be exposed to clean room, manufacturing or shop environment, such as cooler temperatures, noise, dust, odors, etc.
    • Operate medium weight cleaning equipment
    • Potential exposure to biological hazards, explosive hazards, and hazardous wastes
